Dune Distilling gin makes Vacations & Travel Mag ‘top Australian gin’ list

Dune Distiling’s latest gin releases Lime and Green Tea and Christmas Gin have both been included in Vacations and Travel Magazine’s Top Australian Gin list.

Here’s the intro to the story: “Australian gins are pushing the boundaries of flavour and taste with unique botanicals and distilling processes.

It’s clear Australian gin is having a moment. More than 600 different craft gins are produced in this country and many are now international award-winners.

You’ve probably heard of Four Pillars and Archie Rose. But some of the smaller, more unique companies might surprise you with their unique flavours.

We couldn’t possibly cover all of the Australian gins on sale in this country. But we have listed the best and most-unique gins below.”

We sent out the following information to select media which lead to this inclusion.

A new refreshing Lime and Green Tea Gin from Dune Distilling Co. is Margaret River summertime in a bottle.

Dune Distilling Marketing Manager Jo Tate said the Lime and Green Tea Gin provided a taste of Margaret River.

“As well as using zesty local limes, our distiller used green tea leaves sourced from local producer Seven Seas Tea,” Jo said.

Lime and Green Tea brings to four the number of craft gin releases by Dune Distilling available since its award-winning Signature Gin launched in November 2019.

All Dune Distilling gins feature work by emerging West Australian artists on their labels. Dune’s gin releases to date are:
● Lime and Green Tea Gin – artist Elsie Harbour
● Australian Xmas Gin – artist Marie Wilkinson
● Rhubarb and Hibiscus Gin – artist Rina Bhabra
● Yallingup Series Gin - artist Sally Ford (sold out)
● Signature Gin - artist Sara Winfield

The artwork selected for each gin was submitted as part of a competition run by Dune Distilling and the winners have each received a $500 cash prize.

Jo said artist Elsie Harbour’s artwork on the Lime and Green Tea label, The Land in One Hand, was also inspired by Margaret River.

“Elsie created this piece at Redgate Beach in Margaret River. She drew on the colours, patterns and movement of coastal native plants, woven between rocks and salty sea air.”

Elsie grew up in the south west and currently lives in the East Kimberley at Balgo, where she is an arts centre studio coordinator, assisting Indigenous artists as they paint.

Dune Distilling’s Australian Xmas Gin, released in December 2020, is in fact a gin to be enjoyed at festivities year-round. With fresh passionfruit, kiwi and juniper, it’s a celebration of flavour and perfect just with ice and dry tonic.

Marie Wilkinson’s artwork Flora Galore is a perfect pairing with this celebratory south west tipple, painted entirely using sea sponges collected from Geographe Bay in the colours of South West coastal flowers.

Swing by the Margaret River cellar door for lunch and also enjoy a selection of gin cocktails – including Signature Gin with Blood Orange and Watermelon Pickle; Lime and Green Tea with Tonic and Garnish; Hibiscus & Rhubarb Gin with Yuzu and Zest Lemon Confit; and Australian Xmas Gin with Ginger Beer and a Ginger Bonbon.
